Urgent Boil Water Notice - August 17 - August 18

BOIL WATER NOTICE For Kilkenny, MN Starting Friday AM, August 17, 2018 To approximately Saturday AM, August 18, 2018

For the purpose of water tower repair.

On Friday, August 17, 2018, the water will be turned off briefly to drain the water tower for repairs. Service will be returned very shortly after that. The water will then be tested and deemed drinkable when certain sampling requirements are met. Until then, you should follow the instructions below. This applies to water that you would be using for any purpose that could be ingested. It would not apply, for example, to taking a shower or watering flowers.

Bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute, and cool before using or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice. You will be informed when tests show that you no longer need to boil your water. Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms and may pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems. But these symptoms are not just caused by microbes in drinking water. If you consume the water during the Boil Water period and experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you should seek medical advice.

For more information, please contact: Janice Sellner: City cell number: 507-491-6597

Check Facebook or the City Site ( for information on when this boiling order will be lifted. Please share this information with other people who drink this water, especially anyone who may not get this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses).
